Course description
This course builds on the knowledge and skill built in ‘foundation course one’. In this second free and self-directed online course, you will continue to build knowledge and skill to talk about sexual wellbeing with young people. This includes understanding how public health outcomes can improve, tips for talking and recognising when our values are entering the conversation.
This course provides foundation knowledge and information about sexual wellbeing for professionals who work with young people. This course can be accessed by a range of professionals who will use it in different contexts (education, health and social sectors). For example:
- A teacher may complete this course before running relationships and sexuality education as part of their curriculum.
- A social worker may complete this course to upskill in what sexual wellbeing encompasses, so they feel better prepared to advocate for a client’s sexual wellbeing within a health service.
- A counsellor may complete this course to best understand sexuality when working with young people in a one-on-one therapeutic environment.
- A youth worker may complete this course before running a youth development programme.
This course is provided at no-cost to people who work with young people and rangatahi in Aotearoa.
This course is not available to people who don’t work with young people in Aotearoa. If you fall outside of this criterion and would like to register your interest, please email HPAdmin@sexualwellbeing.org.nz with details of your organisation and the course you would like to access.
