This course is for NZ Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Midwives, Doctors, and Extended Care Paramedics.This self-directed three-hour course meets Nursing Council of New Zealand requirements for those applying for endorsement to supply the Emergency Contraceptive Pill.

Course description
This course covers:
- Latest methods of emergency contraception
- What post-coital methods should be used and when
- Revision of advantages and disadvantages of methods
- Teaching effective and safe use of emergency contraception
- Identification of resources for on-going study
- The application process for Emergency Contraception endorsement can be found on the Nursing Council of New Zealand website.
This three-hour course is wholly self-directed and must be completed online within 60 days from date of enrolment.

Prerequisites
- Full New Zealand Nursing, Midwifery, Medical Registration, or Paramedic registration with extended care paramedic endorsement
- Current Practicing Certificate
For a Health New Zealand |Te Whatu Ora funded place on this course, you must meet at least one of the following criteria. The highest priority for funding starts at 1:
- Māori nurses/doctors working for Māori providers
- Non-Māori nurses/doctors working for Māori providers
- Pacific nurses/doctors working for Pacific providers
- Non-Pacific nurses/doctors working for Pacific providers
- Māori nurses/doctors working for health service providers
Community/rural/urban nurses/doctors (including Practice Nurses, Well Child Tamariki Ora Nurses)
*Te Whatu Ora | Health New Zealand employed health professionals AND Extended Care Paramedics are not eligible for funding*
